One of the many firefighters that took part in the Firefighter's Challenge. Some of the firefighters were finishing the course in just over two minutes, amazing considering they have to do the challenge in full gear an the fact that the temprature was up around 29C (85F) degees that day.

Being able to use f/2.8 is handy for shots like this. The shallow depth of field really helps to draw your eye to the center of the rose.

This shot was taken almost 20 years ago. Using a 28mm lens and a flash I was able to capture this image by laying in a ditch.

This leaf hopper is less than an inch long. After about 10 minutes it settled down and I was able to get a few good shots of it.

This is all I have left of this meter. During a very busy location shoot the meter was left behind after we rushed to get everything packed up because of rain.

When I started considering Digital photography I bought a 2 mega-pixel camera. After having it for a while I figured out a way to use the camera with my studio lights. The camera has no controls on it, it is pretty much point and shoot. This was one of the first shots I took with the studio lights hooked into it.

This was one of the first models I worked with. You don't need expensive studio equipment to shoot this kind of work. The set up for this shoot was an $80 flash, a $4 8" translucent umblella and a piece of foil.

You don't need glamour lighting to produce good portraits. Try different lighting set ups to create different moods in your shots.

I am of the belief, the less lights you use the better. This shot was produced with only one light.

This shot was taken outside. The only source of light was the sun. I used a hand held mirror to produce the highlight on the models hair.
